NGSIRS, security Operatives arrest Bosso revenue officer for illegal printing, sales of fake vehicle emblems
The Niger state Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS) in collaboration with security agencies have arrested revenue service officer of Bosso Local Government for illegal printing and sales of fake motor vehicle and emblems.
This was contained in a statement signed by the management of NGSIRS made available to newsmen in Minna on Saturday.
The statement said the revenue service officer behaviour was contrary to the provision of section 32 subsection (3) (4) and (6) of the Niger state Tax Administration and Consolidation Law 2022.
It added that the arrest was in line with the policy of zero tolerance for corruption of the present administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
According to the statement, Niger state revenue service wishes to use this medium to sound a final notes of warning to all persons or syndicates involved in the illegal collection of revenue or the printing and circulation of fake government documents and items.
“Items such as licenses, permits, emblem/ stickers, receipts and number plates for sales to unsuspecting members of the public.
“As at today, some members of these syndicates have been arrested and this include private individuals and government officials and they are set to be prosecuted as directed by the governor of Niger state,” it said.
It noted that NGSIRS was fully committed to tracking identifying and bringing to justice all category of persons involved in the despicable act of economy sabotage against the government and the people of the state.
It added that NGSIRS remain resolute in delivery on its statutory mandate of optimal revenue generation for the state through among others blocking all forms of leakages and prosecution of revenue generation saboteurs.
