Niger state Dep. Gov. Attends meeting on how to strengthen Health system in Eight States.
The Deputy Governor of Niger state,Yakubu Garba among his counterparts from eight States of the Federation attended B-annual High-Level Review of the Primary Health Care Memorandum of Understanding, in order to Strengthen the Health Systems in Eight (8) States of Nigeria that took place in Abuja.
In a press statement by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Ummikhaltume Abdullahi Kuta, stated that the Deputy Governor, while speaking during the meeting stated that to achieve the intent of the National Health Act 2014, it requires strong political commitment by the Federal, State and Local Governments in collaboration with the developmental partners, in order to strengthen the Health System in Nigeria.
The Deputy Governor affirmed that leadership should not be measured, only by the performance in the Urban areas but in the rural communities, especially on how they were able to impact on the livelihood of rural populace across the country.
Earlier In his opening remark the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, underscored the importance of aligning Political, Financial and Technical resources to build a resilient Primary Health-care System for the Country.
The Minister,appreciates the participation from the Eight States, especially the Deputy Governor of Niger state Yakubu Garba, for the deep insights he that can be shared on the challenges of accessing basic Health Care and reducing Maternal and Child Mortality in Nigeria.
The eiigh state that attended the Bi-annual High-Level Review of the Primary Health Care Memorandum of Understanding, in order to Strengthen the Health Systems, are as follows Niger, Bayelsa, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Taraba and Zamfara
The meeting also host, the Nigerian Governor’s Forum, representative of W.H.O Dr. Walter Kazadi Mulombo, Dr. Muyi Aina ED/CEO NPHCDA, Donor Agencies, and Other dignitaries across the World.
