Niger State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Hosts Press Conference on Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy Domestication.

The Niger State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, in partnership with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, held a press briefing to discuss women’s economic empowerment and the domestication of related policies in Niger State.
Representing the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Professor Fumi Banjo addressed journalists at the Ministry of Information conference hall in Minna. She announced that the workshop would last a week, during which women will discuss five key areas: agriculture, entrepreneurship, the labor market, education, and emerging industries.
Professor Banjo described the women’s economic empowerment policy as a strategic initiative designed to remove barriers to women’s participation in economic activities.
She urged the Niger State government and stakeholders to ensure that, by the end of the workshop, the policy is fully domesticated and effectively put into action to improve women’s livelihoods across the state.
In her remarks, Hajiya Hadiza Idris Kuta, the Honorable Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, stated that after the workshop, a comprehensive, legally backed Niger State Women’s Economic Empowerment policy would be created. This policy aims to help access international development grants and federal support, aligning them within a structural gender framework.
She also appealed to the state’s Executive Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, for official endorsement of the policy, approval, and initiation of the formal domestication process for the Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy in Niger State
