Governor Umaru Bago Urges Muslims to Embrace Ramadan Teachings
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on Muslims to internalize the lessons of Ramadan and strive to become better adherents of the faith.
He made this appeal during the ongoing Nupe Ramadan lecture (Tafsir) organized by the Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi Nupe Tafsir Organisation in Minna. Governor Bago encouraged Muslims to use this sacred period to deepen their worship, seek forgiveness, and serve as exemplary ambassadors of Islam.
The governor praised the organization for its longstanding commitment to Islamic propagation, highlighting 28 years of continuous Ramadan lectures, which he described as a remarkable achievement.
He also commended Dr. Farooq for his dedication to delivering annual Ramadan lectures in Nupe language, providing valuable insights into the Holy Quran.
Praying for Allah’s acceptance of Muslims’ acts of worship during Ramadan, Bago appealed for prayers for leaders at all levels to succeed in their efforts towards nation-building.
Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi explained that the focus on Nupe Ramadan lectures aims to reach a broader audience for better understanding and engagement. As the Director-General of the Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs, he commended the governor’s tireless efforts and support for the propagation of Islam.
Special prayers were offered for peace and progress in Niger State, the nation at large, as well as for the success of Governor Bago and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governor was accompanied by notable officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi; Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council, Dr. Mustapha Alheri; and Pro-Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University, Prof. Muhammad Kuta Yahaya, among others.
