NUJ Niger Mourns Former BCNS General Manager Ibrahim Ahmed Kontagora
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former General Manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of Niger State (BCNS), Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Kontagora.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the union, the State Secretary of the NUJ, Comrade Usman Chiji, described the death of Alhaji Kontagora as a great loss, not only to his family but also to Radio Niger, the media industry, and Niger State as a whole.
The union described the deceased as an accomplished journalist whose career served as a source of inspiration to many practising journalists in the state.
It noted that his professionalism, dedication, and commitment contributed significantly to laying a solid foundation for journalism practice in Niger State.
According to the statement, both veterans and young journalists continue to benefit from Alhaji Kontagora’s wealth of experience, which greatly influenced their daily reportage and professional development.
The NUJ further stated that the late media icon had become a reference point in the journalism profession, adding that his mentorship extended across various segments of the mass communication sector.
The union said it would continue to remember Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Kontagora as one of the founding fathers of the broadcast industry in Niger State and a distinguished media personality whose legacy continues to impact media practitioners.
It expressed hope that journalists and other media workers would emulate the professionalism, decency, and adherence to ethical standards that characterized the life and career of the deceased.
The NUJ prayed Almighty Allah to forgive Alhaji Kontagora’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the Kontagora Emirate, as well as the management and staff of Radio Niger, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.Comrade Usman Chiji Council Secretary
