Niger NUJ congratulates Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo on his election as the North Central Representative of the Badminton Federation
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has congratulated Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo on his election as the North Central Zonal Representative of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria.
Alhaji Nma Kolo was elected following the Federation’s election held in Jos on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, where delegates from the North Central Zone honored him.
In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Union, the State NUJ Secretary, Comrade Usman Chiji, described the election as a sign of Alhaji Nma Kolo’s hard work, as well as the trust and confidence placed in him by member states and stakeholders nationwide.
The Union recognized his consistent contributions to the growth and development of sports, especially badminton, in Niger State and beyond. It specifically praised him for building an Olympic-standard international badminton hall in Minna a rare achievement for any individual in both public and private sectors.
The statement also mentioned the friendly badminton competition he organized in August 2024 to celebrate the re-election of the Dr. Abu Nmodu-led NUJ executive in the state, calling it a memorable event in the Union’s history.
The NUJ further described Alhaji Nma Kolo, who is also the Chairman of Nexter FM Minna, as a compassionate leader, a passionate supporter of grassroots sports, and a dedicated friend of the Union. The Council stated that he strongly believes that well-structured sporting activities can help reduce youth-related social vices in the state.
The Union also thanked him for establishing Nexter FM Minna despite his busy political schedule. It pointed out that this modern radio station has enabled citizens to freely share their opinions, strengthened the broadcasting industry, and created jobs for young people.
While expressing hope that his election will enhance collaboration between him and the Union, the NUJ urged Alhaji Nma Kolo to use his new role to promote the growth of badminton by encouraging the creation of clubs in schools, unions, and youth organizations across the state.
