Saf-She Enterprise Pays Borehole Owners to Provide Free Water in Three Minna Communities
A non-governmental organization, Saf-She Enterprise, has paid owners of commercial boreholes in three communities within Minna metropolis to provide free water to residents for five hours, as part of its efforts to cushion the hardship caused by inadequate water supply.
The intervention was carried out in the affected communities within the metropolis, where persistent water scarcity has made access to clean and safe water a daily struggle for many households. Residents have long depended on commercial water vendors, often at high costs, to meet their domestic needs.
According to the CEO of the organization Safiya Yaman Muhammad the initiative was aimed at providing temporary relief by offsetting the cost of water and ensuring residents could fetch water free of charge during the five-hour period.
She noted that the gesture forms part of the organization’s broader humanitarian support to vulnerable communities which came under the support of well to do individuals and philanthropist in the State.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Saf-She Enterprise, describing the intervention as timely, especially in view of prevailing economic challenges. Some residents said the free water supply helped ease financial pressure and reduced the stress of sourcing water.
Community leaders have commended the NGO effort and called for more sustained interventions and partnerships to address the recurring water supply challenges affecting communities within Minna metropolis.
