Tragedy Strikes as Six Final-Year LAUTECH Nursing Students Die in Motor Accident
At least six final-year nursing students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have reportedly lost their lives in a fatal vehicular crash along the Ilorin-Igbomoso Road.
The victims were traveling to sit for their final examinations in Ogbomoso when the accident occurred. All were 500-level students enrolled in the institution’s Open and Distance Learning Bachelor of Nursing Science program.
Sources within the university indicated that the students, who combined professional duties as practicing nurses with their academic pursuits, were eager to complete their degrees and attain full qualification.
Among those deceased was a student reportedly heavily pregnant at the time of the crash, a detail that has intensified the grief and emotional impact within the university community and among peers.
Their bodies have been deposited in a mortuary pending autopsy and further directives from authorities.
