Suspected ISWAP Fighters Attack Nigerian Military Base in Adamawa
Suspected fighters affiliated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) launched an attack on a Nigerian Army camp in Adamawa State. During the assault, the terrorists killed at least two soldiers and destroyed military vehicles, indicating a significant escalation in Nigeria’s ongoing insurgency in the North-East.
The incident occurred on Sunday at the Garahamojili military camp, where the attackers engaged troops in a fierce gun battle lasting approximately 20 minutes. Despite the resistance, the insurgents overpowered the soldiers.
As a result, at least two soldiers lost their lives, and several others were injured during the exchange of fire. The attackers subsequently gained control of portions of the base, setting buildings on fire and burning at least three military vehicles within the camp.
Sources confirmed that the insurgents looted weapons and ammunition before fleeing the scene. As of this report, the Nigerian military has not issued an official statement.
