NUJ Congratulates Niger State on Golden Jubilee Anniversary
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has extended its congratulations to the Executive Governor of Niger State, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the citizens of the state on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
In a formal statement issued on behalf of the Union, State Secretary Comrade Usman Chiji highlighted that Niger State has achieved significant progress since its establishment from the former North-West State, despite facing various challenges over the years.
The statement noted that the growth of journalism in Niger State has paralleled the state’s development, with expansion from government-owned media outlets to increased private-sector involvement, including the recent launch of new radio stations such as Prestige FM Minna, Nexter FM Minna, MAW Trade FM Minna, Landmark FM Kontagora, and Badeggi FM Minna.
The Union also congratulated the Governor, his Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Barr. Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, and traditional rulers led by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, on this significant milestone.
Furthermore, NUJ acknowledged the contributions of former leaders to the state’s socio-economic and political development. It urged Governor Umaru Bago to continue his steadfast service to ensure ongoing growth and prosperity.
The statement reaffirmed journalists’ dedication to promoting good governance and accountability through objective, balanced reporting, and committed to strengthening partnerships with government, NGOs, and other stakeholders to elevate Niger State among developing economies.
