About 4,100 people defected to ADC in Bosso LGAs, marking a significant shift in Niger State politics.
Approximately 4,100 individuals switched from various political parties to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) within the Bosso local government area of Niger State.
Hon. Musa Hassan, Chairman of the ADC in Niger State, welcomed the defectors at the ADC Secretariat in Bosso. He urged them to work hard to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Hon. Hassan expressed surprise at the large number of defectors from a single local government, viewing it as a clear sign of voters’ dissatisfaction with the APC’s failure to deliver on its campaign promises.
The event also marked the opening of the ADC Bosso Local Government Secretariat in Maikunkele.
He encouraged defectors to register with the ADC party. He reminded them of the ongoing voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enable them to cast their votes in the upcoming 2027 general election.
He also emphasized to the youths the importance of collecting their voter cards, stressing that possessing a voter card is crucial for fulfilling their civic duties as Nigerians.
Hon. Mallam Umaru Usman Maikunkele, Chairman of ADC in Bosso, noted that among the defectors are ten ward councillors who had previously contested in APC primary elections within the area.
He mentioned that more defections are likely to join ADC soon, showing broad discontent with the APC’s leadership.
Representing the defectors, Hon. Abubakar Popoi condemned the irregularities seen during the APC primary elections for both party chairman and councilorship positions, which led to their switch to ADC.
He assured that they will work together to secure victory for ADC in the 2027 elections.
