Maikunkele Youth Urged to Prioritize Unity and Development.
The Maikunkele Youth have been called upon to prioritize the unity and development of the Maikunkele district, setting aside personal interests in favor of the district’s progress, where loyalty to the community surpasses allegiance to political factions.
During the Ebmi National Summit 2025, held at the 24/7 Event Center in Maikunkele, Engr Abdullahi Mohammed, the chairman of the event, emphasized that (Ebmi) Maikunkele district is a land abundant with untapped resources.
He urged the youth to capitalize on these natural assets to foster sustainable development.
He also urged the youth to view the summit as a platform for collaboration, moving beyond blame to work collectively for the political and socio-economic growth of the district.
According to Engr Mohammed, the district’s political landscape has often been characterized by rivalries centered on personal interests rather than constructive ideas.
He highlighted that the dominance of personality politics has hindered progress and stressed the importance of fostering unity and development in Maikunkele.
Earlier in his welcoming address, Professor Christopher K. Bala, Chairman of Ebmi Zata Kaba, outlined the purpose of organizing the Ebmi National Summit—to foster unity and raise political awareness among members and the wider community.
Professor Bala emphasized the urgent need to revitalize our community on political, economic, and social fronts—an overdue initiative that has been historically neglected.
He asserted that this neglect has led to a decline in our influence, especially within local government and at the state level.
He observed that our political leaders often struggle to succeed independently, not due to a lack of ambition, but because of the absence of a supportive platform, which forces them to compete largely alone with limited support from their community and allies.
The decision to convene a consultative meeting was motivated by the desire to propose solutions and to address divisions caused by prolonged neglect.
He underscored that politics remains essential for the growth and development of individuals and communities. A decline in political influence can threaten the community’s future.
Professor Bala concluded by reaffirming that loyalty, love, and unity are vital to overcoming our challenges, contingent upon genuine goodwill and mutual support for our collective aspirations.
Highlights of the event include donations of educational materials to some selected schools and the presentation of awards to past leaders of the association, among other activities.
