The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger State Council, led by Chairman Comrade Ambassador Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene, has issued formal greetings to Christian faithful in the state during this year’s Christmas celebrations. The council underscores the importance of unity and collective action in addressing the nation’s economic challenges.
Chairman Lafene highlighted that the current socio-economic climate necessitates solidarity, organization, and broad mobilization, rather than passive hope or rhetoric driven solely by elites.
He acknowledged the hardships encountered by Nigerians, including rising living costs, policy deficiencies, and systemic exploitation. He expressed optimism that the spirit of Christmas will inspire renewed hope and commitment towards building a better Nigeria.
Furthermore, the Niger NLC advocates for fair and inclusive fiscal policies, condemning unjust tax laws and policies. They champion social justice, equal access to quality healthcare and education, security for all, and fair compensation for workers. The organized labour also commends the Niger State governor for his demonstrated worker-friendly approach.
Lafene urged the state government to address pressing issues vital to worker development and expressed confidence that these concerns will be progressively resolved.
On behalf of the State Administrative Council, State Executive Council, and Veterans Forum of the Organised Labour, the Niger NLC wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
