Police Recover Gold Buried by Boko Haram Attack Victim in Borno State

Authorities in Borno State have retrieved gold estimated at N23.6 million, which a woman concealed in Mallamfatori, Abadam Local Government Area, fifteen years ago while fleeing a Boko Haram attack.
The woman reported that she had hidden the gold in the sand before escaping the town. She recently returned and enlisted police assistance to locate the items.
ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, stated that officers conducted a search of the area based on her description. The recovered items include “22cc of gold valued at approximately N20 million” and “a gold bracelet and chain worth N3.6 million.”
The police highlighted that the incident underscores how insurgency has compelled many residents to abandon their property while fleeing violence.
Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid praised the Mallamfatori Divisional Police Officer and his team for their integrity, professionalism, and honesty.
He emphasized that such actions exemplify the core values of the Nigeria Police Force and serve to foster public trust.
CP Abdulmajid reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property and urged residents to collaborate closely with law enforcement to enhance security across the state.
