Kebbi: Three Immigration Officers Killed in Terrorist Attack

Three officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) were killed during an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists at a checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa, along the Maje border in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The assault occurred around midnight on Wednesday, prompting fears among residents of border communities.
According to local sources discussed with Vanguard on Friday, the attackers stormed the immigration post unannounced and opened fire on the officers, resulting in three fatalities immediately.
A security source, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident and stated that the assailants fled through nearby bushes.
This attack follows a similar incident about a month ago when a Nigeria Customs Service officer was killed and several official vehicles were torched along the Maje border, highlighting increasing security concerns along the Nigeria–Benin border corridor in Bagudo.
The Lakurawa gang has been associated with multiple violent incidents across Kebbi State, targeting both security personnel and civilians.
The motive behind the latest attack remains uncertain, with investigations ongoing, according to security authorities.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar, spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the incident but noted that details are still limited.
