The Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu Kibiya, has welcomed more than 50 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kibiya ward in Kibiya Local Government Area to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the area.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Balarabe Kiru, on Wednesday in Kano.
Kibiya welcomed the APC supporters to the NNPP, highlighting Gov. Abba Yusuf’s commitment to good governance and development projects.
Kibiya stated that the Governor had executed projects in health, education, infrastructure, empowerment, and agriculture that benefited the residents of Kano.
He assured the new NNPP members of the party’s support and urged them to stay committed to ensuring the administration’s success.
Yakubu Alhaji, the leader of the decamped APC supporters, said that they joined the NNPP in recognition of the party’s dedication to development and good governance under Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration.
He criticised the APC administration for lacking development projects in the area over the past eight years, claiming its policies were self-serving rather than focused on the people.
The CoCouncillor for Kibiya Ward, Auwalu Sarki, revealed that more groups were expected to join the NNPP, praising the efforts of the commissioner in promoting the party and Yusuf’s policies in Kibiya Local Government Area.
Sarki said the commissioner’s work had played a key role in attracting supporters to the party.
