Niger State Speaker Hails NSIEC for Successful Local Government Elections Amidst APC Landslide Victory
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has lauded the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) for its exemplary organization of free and fair Local Government elections across the state.
His commendation follows the Commission’s successful management of the electoral process, demonstrating commitment, professionalism, and resilience.
During the presentation of Certificates of Return to newly elected Local Government Chairmen and Vice Chairmen at the NSIEC Headquarters in Minna, Sarkin-Daji, who also served as the Director General of the State APC Local Government Election Campaign Council, celebrated the overwhelming victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which won 271 out of 274 wards, conceding only three seats to opposition parties.
“This is a remarkable demonstration of the transparency and credibility of NSIEC’s conduct,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of the electoral body’s role in maintaining a fair democratic process.
The Speaker urged the newly elected officials to view their success as a responsibility to serve all citizens within their local government areas, irrespective of political affiliation, religion, or background. “This is the time for governance. You must embrace everyone and ensure justice and fairness to all, because the responsibility for the progress and well-being of your local government now rests on your shoulders,” he stated.
Additionally, Rt. Hon. Sarkin-Daji reassured the newly elected officials of the 10th Niger State House of Assembly’s unwavering support, promising legislative guidance and collaboration to foster good governance and facilitate their success throughout their tenure.
