Niger State Government Initiates Major Efforts to Combat Water Shortage

The Niger State Government has announced the procurement of essential materials, including aluminum sulfate and HTH chlorine, to enhance water treatment processes.
Akilu Musa Kuta, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Dams Development, revealed this initiative, highlighting the increasing concerns regarding challenges in the water sector, particularly during the dry season. He emphasized the urgent need for solutions, despite the limitations of available resources.
Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago is reportedly dedicating significant efforts to revitalizing all waterworks and Biwater supply schemes across Niger State to ensure that every resident has access to affordable, reliable, and safe drinking water.
Kuta affirmed the state government’s ongoing commitment to water revitalization, explaining that the recent acquisition of water treatment chemicals is part of a broader strategy to enhance water quality and accessibility for the populace.
In an encouraging development, some areas in the state capital have already begun to see improved water supply, including neighborhoods such as COE, Tunga, Chanchaga, and several others.
The government anticipates that more areas will benefit from these enhancements in the near future.
This proactive approach underscores the administration’s dedication to alleviating water scarcity and ultimately enhancing the overall well-being of Nigerlites.
