Independent Election Observers Praise Niger State for Successful 2025 Local Government Elections
In a recent press briefing held at the NUJ Pen House in Tunga Minna, Chief Dr. Lazarus Nwachukwu, the Team Delegation Leader from the National Council of NGOs and Civil Society Organizations of Nigeria, commended the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) for its role in facilitating a peaceful and democratic local government council election in 2025.
Dr. Nwachukwu expressed gratitude towards Governor Umaru Bago for his commitment to fostering democracy at the grassroots level, acknowledging his efforts as a significant step forward for the state.
The delegation, which included representatives from various civil society organizations, applauded the combined efforts of the state government, NSIEC, and the electorate for the smooth conduct of the elections.
The team conducted a comprehensive observation of the electoral process, which included monitoring the activities of involved political parties, the electorate, security agencies, and the media.
Dr. Nwachukwu highlighted that the security agencies performed their duties with commendable professionalism, noting a significant absence of violence or intimidation during the elections—a notable contrast to previous experiences in other electoral cycles.
