DSS Arrests Dismissed Officers for Impersonation and Fraud.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully arrested two former officers, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who are accused of impersonating the agency to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the DSS confirmed the arrests, stating that both individuals had previously been declared wanted in public alerts. They will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
The DSS reaffirmed its commitment to combating fraudulent activities, stating: “The Department of State Services recently issued disclaimers regarding two dismissed personnel, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin. These individuals were allegedly cloaking themselves as part of the Service to engage in fraudulent activities.”
This announcement follows a series of warnings from the DSS urging the public to avoid dealing with the two former officers, who were dismissed for misconduct. Victor Onyedikachi Godwin was specifically highlighted for allegedly defrauding individuals while misrepresenting himself as an active DSS operative.
Similarly, on October 8, the DSS issued a separate warning about Barry Donald, who was also accused of fraudulent impersonation.
The DSS is dedicated to protecting citizens from such impersonators and aims to maintain public trust in its operations. Plans are underway to publish the names of other dismissed personnel to further safeguard the public from falling victim to similar scams.
The agency urged citizens to verify any official communications through its authorized channels and to report any suspicious activities involving individuals claiming to represent the Service.
