Niger State Police Command Reports Recent Arrests and Recoveries in Ongoing Crime-Fighting Efforts

In its ongoing commitment to combat criminal activities and ensure public safety, the Niger State Police Command has announced several significant arrests and recoveries made over the past week.
According to SP W.A. Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger Command, authorities recovered a stolen vehicle in Kaduna State. The report was filed at the Tudun-Wada Division regarding an ash-colored Pontiac with registration number MNA 751 TL. This vehicle was taken from the Gidan-Kwano Eid praying ground in Tunga Minna shortly after Eid prayers.
Police operatives promptly circulated information about the vehicle and, utilizing technical intelligence, located it in the Danmani area of Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Collaborating with the SCID Kaduna State Command, the vehicle was successfully recovered by 6 p.m. on the same day. Investigations are ongoing as the suspect remains at large.
In a related incident, the Bosso Division reported the arrest of Nana Mubarak, a 24-year-old woman and daughter of a landlady, for stealing household items worth approximately one million naira from her tenant’s home in El-Waziri, Minna. The theft occurred on May 27, 2025, and included valuable items such as an LG plasma television and various kitchen appliances. After a thorough investigation, the suspect was apprehended on June 3, with most of the stolen property recovered during a search of her residence. During questioning, she confessed to the crime and disclosed that she sold the television for fifty-five thousand naira. Both suspects have been charged and are awaiting prosecution.
Additionally, on June 7, 2025, police at the ‘B’ Division Bida arrested Ndagi Mohammed, who was found in possession of rolls of electric cable believed to be stolen. The suspect admitted to vandalizing electric poles on June 5, planning to sell the stolen items. The cables were recovered, and the suspect remains in custody for further investigation.
Furthermore, on June 10, 2025, following a series of robberies in Suleja, police conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of nine individuals connected to armed robbery and thuggery. The suspects, hailing from various states including Kano and Sokoto, were apprehended with dangerous weapons and will face charges after further investigation.
On June 11, 2025, police conducted a raid in the Tunga area of Minna in response to reports of thuggery. Six suspects were arrested for disturbing the peace and possession of dangerous items. They are currently under investigation and will face charges in due course.
