Violent Assault on Osun Amotekun Command Leaves Five Officers Injured

From Our Correspondent

The Osun State Amotekun Corps has reported a disturbing attack on its Awo Command in the Egbedore Local Government Area, orchestrated by a notorious gang led by the wanted criminal Ismaila Aluko.

On Monday, spokesperson Yusuf Idowu disclosed that the incident occurred over the weekend after the Oniwoye of Iwoye requested assistance from Amotekun regarding allegations of an illegal burial on ancestral grounds. Upon arrival, officers found that the burial had already occurred.

Idowu stated, “To our surprise, Ismaila Aluko and a group of armed associates launched a vicious attack on our personnel, resulting in injuries.” The engaged operatives were compelled to retreat to their headquarters in Awo to avoid further harm.

The situation escalated when the gang regrouped and executed a second attack on the Amotekun office. “In a shocking turn of events, the hoodlums regrouped and staged a second assault on the Amotekun office in Awo,” Idowu reported.

This brazen incursion unfolded in the presence of law enforcement, including members of the Nigeria Police Force and an officer from the Department of State Services, who were on-site to mediate the situation.

The attackers attempted to disarm the operatives, leading to multiple injuries among the Amotekun personnel. One officer sustained serious injuries, while four others incurred minor injuries.

Idowu condemned the assault as a direct threat to community safety and vowed that the corps, in collaboration with other security agencies, is committed to the arrest and prosecution of all individuals involved.

“We reiterate our steadfast dedication to safeguarding lives, property, and overall community peace,” he affirmed.
