Niger Govt. assures corps members of adequate security, welfare

Niger state Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the security and welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.
He gave the assurance during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko, Niger state.
Bago also assured the management of NYSC that his administration was committed to providing a conducive environment for the scheme to thrive.
He acknowledged the importance of the NYSC scheme in promoting national unity and integration, promising to ensure the safety and well-being of corps members.
“I urge you all corps members to take advantage of the numerous programmes of the NYSC to acquire requisite skills,” he said.
Bago emphasised that the NYSC remains a vital tool for maintaining national unity and integrity, with corps members contributing significantly to the country’s developmental strides.
The governor advised the corps members to be disciplined and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the NYSC, noting that the skills acquired would be a lifelong advantage.
Bago also appreciated the efforts of the NYSC management, security agencies, and other officials in ensuring the success of each orientation course.
Earlier in her address, the NYSC Coordinator in Niger state, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, emphasised the significance of NYSC programme in promoting national unity and integration.
She commended the corps members for their patriotic spirit and readiness to participate in the orientation exercise.
Olayinka said the orientation course was designed to familiarise corps members with the scheme’s objectives and prepare them for the expectations of the service year.
Olayinka emphasised that the NYSC programme aimed to promote integration and unity among corps members from diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.
She encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the country and foster values of friendship, peace, and harmony.
