A Nigerian correctional officer stationed at the Burra Correctional Centre in Bauchi State has allegedly killed a fellow officer following a dispute over food.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 17, at about 2 p.m. in Burra town, Ningi Local Government Area of the state.

The dispute started between the two Correctional officials when Chiroma brought food for lunch and Abubakar insisted on eating along with him against the former’s will.

The development subsequently led to a confrontation between the duo.

“They exchanged words, which quickly escalated into a fight. Kabiru headbutted Aliyu, making him to fall to the ground. The commotion attracted the attention of nearby people,” an eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said.

Chiroma was rushed to the General Hospital Burra, where he eventually died.

However, the spokesperson of NCoS, Bauchi State Command, Aminu Ahmed, confirmed the incident, saying it was outside the correctional facility.

Ahmed added that the deceased, who hailed from Giade local government area of the State, and the suspect, who is from Dass local government area of the State, were both serving at Burra Correctional Center.

He said the body of the deceased had been handed over to his family for burial.
