Gboyako Foundation trains 120 youths, women on ICT in Bida

By Mohammed Baba Busu

Bida-based Gboyako Foundation Center in Bida, Niger, said it trained 120 unemployed youths and women in Information Communications Technology (ICT) skills.

The graduation and presentation of certificate to the participants took place at ASUP Auditorium Hall, Federal Polytechnic, Bida on Monday.

During the event, the Director of the Foundation, SP Adamu Shaba Gboyako, said the gesture was part of his contribution to reduce rising unemployment in the state and the country at large.

Shaba Gboyako who is the Personal Chief Security Officer to the Imo state Governor, Mr Hope Uzodinma also said that the training was part of efforts to empower the trainee with hard and soft skills required to break even in the contemporary technology driven by the world.

He said also that the training would help them to be productive to themselves, Niger and Nigeria in general, most especially now that the world thrived on Technology.

Shaba Gboyako, CSO to former IGP Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris said that the beneficiaries were selected from all the Nupe-speaking local government areas from across the state.

He assured that all and sundry from the state would all benefit from the next phase of the project.

The director explained that the graduands had been equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the digital age.

Shaba Gboyako noted that the knowledge and skills acquired would open doors to new opportunities and challenges.

The Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Abdullahi Sule, a former Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, expressed gratitude to proprietor of the Foundation for “developing our youths to be able to survive both examinations and future employment”.

According to him, without the knowledge of ICT, people cannot participate in many exams and interviews, now that everything has gone technological

Sule, who is also the Kimiyan Nupe urged the youths and other Nigerians to embrace Information Communication Technology ( ICT) training considering its importance to the development of the society.

He said that the world is a global village, hence the need for Nigerians to embrace computer knowledge at all times

“I am grateful to the Proprietor of this foundation because he has developed our youths.

“Without the knowledge of ICT, it will be difficult to undertake some examinations this days.

“You need ICT knowledge to write JAMB, even WAEC, NECO among other examinations and employment aptitude test,” he said.

The Manager of the centre, Mallam Muhammad Danjuma, commended the sponsor of the programme, for funding the ICT programme for the teeming unemployed youths and women.

He appealed to other well-to-do individuals to emulate Shaba Gboyako by training youths and women on skill acquisition, for the area to move forward
