NSP foundation distributes palliative to IDPs in Munya, Shiroro

NSP foundation distributes palliative to IDPs in Munya, Shiroro

The North South Power Foundation (NSPF), has distributed palliative to the Internally Displaced Person (IDPs) in Munya and Shiroro Local Government Areas of Niger state.

Mr Hassan Abdullahi, Consultant on Corporate Social Responsibility with NSP presented the food items to the IDPs on behalf of the company in Shiroro and Munya local government areas.

The relief palliative for Munya were presented to them at Dandaudu – Mararaba Junction primary school to serve IDPs in Sarkin Pawa, Dangunu and Chibani while that of IDPs in Shiroro were presented at Gwada, Kuta and Zumba central primary schools respectively.

 

The Consultant on Corporate Social Responsibility to the company (CSR), Hon. Hassan Abdullahi, explained that the palliative is part of the CRS to assist victims displaced by bandits from host communities celebrate Sallah.

He disclosed that the company had earlier donated cows to IDPs in Kuta and Zumba to help them celebrate Sallah like others.

 

Abdullahi said the items distributed are 200 bags of 25kg rice, 200 bags of 25kg beans, 10 bags of 50kg garri, 80 cartons of kings vegetable oil, 80 cartons of kings red oil, 20 cartons of maggi cubes, 20 cartons of tomatoes sachet,10 bags of 50kg dangote salt and 5 bags of 50kg dangote sugar.

He called on Federal, state and local governments as well as multi-national organisations to put hand together to bring a lasting solution to the humanitarian crisis in the areas.

 

Similarly, the Public Relations/CSR Unit of NSP, Mr Samson Esumeh, said the palliative distributed is an emergency step taken by the company to cushion the effect of increasing number of population in the IDPs camps due to banditry activities.

He disclosed that the foundation has also sank 36 boreholes, rehabilitate schools, constructed public health centre as well as surgery for more than 100 people from  host communities from January 2024 to date.

Malam Yusuf Bala Kuta, Coordinator of IDPs camp in Kuta, who responded on behalf of the IDPs, thanked the foundation for always supporting the victims of banditry with food and medical care and portable water supply.

Also, the Director Administration in Shiroro, Zakari Umaru, who represented the Chairman, appreciated  NSP for the gesture, saying the council alone cannot afford to carter for the large number IDPs without external support.

Some of the victims who spoke to newsmen, recount their ordeals of how the bandits attacked their communities slaughtering adult, youths and male children unchallenged.

They said the bandits warned them to vacate their ancentral communities, warning them never to return again, they called on government at all levels to come to their help by deploying security personnel to the areas.
