NYSC Releases Updated Guidelines for Prospective Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued updated guidelines for prospective corps members to prepare for the upcoming orientation camp. The guidance emphasizes safety precautions during travel, especially advising against night travel, and outlines essential registration procedures.
In a notification posted on its X platform on Monday, the NYSC urged prospective corps members to prioritize safety when traveling to their designated orientation camps.
“Prospective Corps Members are strongly advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp,” the NYSC stated.
The scheme also emphasized that candidates with discrepancies in their graduation dates will not be eligible for registration at the camp.
“Candidates whose graduation dates differ between their call-up letters and statements of results will be ineligible for registration at the orientation camp,” it declared.
Affected candidates are advised to resolve such discrepancies with the relevant authorities before camp reporting.
“Candidates should address such issues with the Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting to the camp,” the statement added.
The NYSC further reminded prospective corps members to complete all necessary documentation in advance, including signing and submitting the registration form.
“Prospective Corps Members should print and sign the registration form, which must be submitted during camp registration,” it advised.
Additionally, the guidelines provide procedures for correcting discrepancies in dates of birth. Applicants are instructed to obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN and follow the correction process through the NYSC dashboard.
The procedure involves accessing the “Correction of Date of Birth” link, entering the WAEC Verification PIN, selecting the WAEC type, year of examination, and examination number, then verifying and submitting.
The NYSC urges all prospective corps members to strictly follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth registration process and avoid challenges during the orientation period.
