2027: ‘People Who Can’t Clearly State Their Primary School Are Wanting to Be President’ — Rufai Oseni
Rufai Oseni, a broadcaster and anchor of the ARISE Television Morning Show, has questioned the educational backgrounds of some presidential candidates, suggesting Nigerians should be concerned about aspirants running for the country’s highest office without revealing details about their primary education.
Oseni made this remark in a Facebook post on Sunday after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the personal details of presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 election.
“People that can’t tell you their primary school want to be your president, and Nigerians will vote them,” he wrote.
His comments come amid increased public scrutiny of the nomination documents released by INEC.
According to the documents, President Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), included his Bachelor of Science degree from Chicago State University among his academic qualifications. However, the sections for his primary and secondary school attendance years were marked as “0000.”
In contrast, the documents submitted by Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi and African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Atiku Abubakar included educational records dating back to their primary school years.
INEC stated that publishing the documents marks the start of the official period for public review of candidates’ nomination papers. During this time, Nigerians can challenge any false information in a candidate’s affidavit in court, as allowed by the Electoral Act.
The release of these documents has sparked widespread debate on social media, with Nigerians sharing different opinions on the qualifications and transparency of those seeking the presidency.
