Through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor commended the elder statesman, praising him as an icon of peace, unity, and patriotism whose extensive contributions to national development are highly significant.
The governor highlighted Gen. Abubakar’s pivotal role in facilitating Nigeria’s transition to democracy in 1998 and his efforts ensuring a smooth return to civilian rule in 1999, earning him the nickname “father of Nigeria’s democracy.”
He also acknowledged the former head of state’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and political stability across Nigeria and West Africa.
Governor Bago emphasized that the selfless sacrifices and exemplary leadership of Gen. Abubakar remain invaluable to Nigeria’s history.
