Niger State begins training of trainers for 2026 Hajj exercise.

Determined to ensure a hitch-free 2026 Hajj exercise, the Niger State Hajj and Umrah Training Committee has commenced the training of trainers for intending pilgrims across the 25 local government areas of the state.
The training programme is designed to equip Islamic clerics, who will in turn train prospective pilgrims, with adequate knowledge of the essential Hajj rites to ensure the performance of an acceptable pilgrimage.
Chairman of the Association, Mohammed Liman MashaaAllahu, described the initiative as vital, noting that it is aimed at imparting proper understanding of Hajj practices in line with Islamic teachings.
He made this known during the flag-off of the 2026 Hajj training exercise, emphasizing the importance of involving trainers as key stakeholders in sensitizing intending pilgrims.
According to him, engaging trainers directly would enhance the effective dissemination of accurate information to pilgrims, many of whom have limited knowledge of Hajj rituals.
“We believe that carrying you along and explaining certain aspects will help in passing the right message to the pilgrims. You are expected to guide them, especially those with little understanding of the rites,” he said.
Liman cautioned against ignorance of Hajj rites, urging pilgrims to seek guidance from knowledgeable scholars or designated officials to ensure their pilgrimage is valid and accepted. Quoting the Qur’an, he reminded participants that “the best provision for the journey is the fear of Allah.”
He also called on the government to sustain its support, particularly in sponsoring qualified scholars to guide pilgrims throughout the exercise.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Muhammad Auwal Aliyu, represented by the Director of Operations, Attahiru Bala Dukku, commended the association for its commitment.
He urged trainers to intensify efforts in educating pilgrims, especially on new guidelines introduced by Saudi authorities.
Dukku assured that the Board has put necessary measures in place to ensure a successful Hajj operation, including improved welfare services, better accommodation, and timely airlift of pilgrims.
Also speaking, the 2026 Amirul Hajj and Etsu Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, appreciated the initiative and advised intending pilgrims to be law-abiding, avoid prohibited items, and remain focused on spiritual devotion.
He stressed the importance of sincerity of intention, patience, and good conduct throughout the pilgrimage, adding that pilgrims must acquire adequate knowledge through lectures, reading materials, and proper guidance on Hajj rituals.
The training programme also covers procedures for performing Hajj rites, security regulations, health requirements, and strict adherence to Saudi Arabian laws.
