Niger State SSG Convenes Strategic Meeting on Proposed Lambata Industrial Trailer Park, Reiterates Government’s Commitment to Economic Development

By Abubakar Adamu Kuta
Information Officer

A high-level strategic meeting was held with the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, to discuss the proposed development of an Industrial Trailer Park in Lambata, Gurara, Niger State.

The session took place today at the Conference Hall of the SSG’s Office in Minna and included key stakeholders such as officials from the State Ministries of Lands and Survey, Investment and Private Sector Development, the State Surveyor General, community leaders, the Honourable Councillor of Lambata ward, Hon. Adamu Haruna (Gwass), and traditional titleholders from Lambata, among others.

This meeting underscores the State Government’s dedication to infrastructural advancement and economic growth.

Participants engaged in constructive dialogue about the objectives, benefits, and implementation strategies for the proposed Industrial Trailer Park project.

In his address, the SSG reaffirmed the Niger State Government’s unwavering commitment, led by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, to fostering an investment-friendly environment, improving road safety, and promoting the orderly parking of heavy-duty vehicles throughout the state. He highlighted that the Lambata trailer park aims to decongest highways, minimize accidents related to unregulated trailer parking, and stimulate local economic activities.

The SSG emphasized Lambata’s strategic location along major transit corridors, making it an ideal site for a well-organized trailer park offering secure parking, rest areas, maintenance services, and additional support infrastructure for haulage operators. The project is projected to generate employment, boost local commerce, and increase the state’s internally generated revenue.

He also mentioned ongoing plans for a light rail connecting Minna to Abuja, which could feature a station at Lambata, urging community cooperation to realize this development.

Additionally, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon. Bello Ahmad, briefed the SSG on community engagement efforts related to land acquisition for the project, covering approximately 1,000 hectares.

Hon. Ahmad referenced the Land Use Act of 1978, which authorizes land acquisition for developmental purposes, and assured that all processes would comply fully with applicable laws, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and diligent resettlement procedures.

Community leaders from Lambata, including Wazirin Lambata and Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, expressed appreciation for the government’s inclusive approach. They recognized the economic opportunities the project could bring but also called for increased corporate social responsibility, a reduction in the land required, and ongoing community consultation.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continuous dialogue and cooperation to ensure successful implementation of the Lambata Industrial Trailer Park project.

The Niger State Government remains dedicated to inclusive development and strategic initiatives that will drive socio-economic transformation.
