Dangote Group Announces Leadership Expansion with Appointments of Daughters

Africa’s richest person, Aliko Dangote, has appointed his daughters to key senior leadership roles within the Dangote Group, which operates in 17 African countries across sectors such as manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture.

Halima Aliko Dangote has been named Group Executive Director of the Dangote Family Office and International Offices in Dubai and London. She will oversee the development of the Dubai-based Family Office, establishing its governance structure, operating model, policies, and organizational hierarchy.

Currently, Halima is the Group Executive Director at Dangote Industries Limited. Previously, she served as Executive Director at Dangote Flour Mills, leading its turnaround and sale, and is a Non-Executive Director at NASCON. She also serves as Board President of The Africa Center in New York, a board member of Endeavor Nigeria, and is part of Women Corporate Directors.

Halima started her career as an analyst at KPMG and has over 13 years of professional experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from American Intercontinental University in London and an MBA from Webster Business School.

Fatima Aliko Dangote has been appointed Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations in Oil & Gas, where she will oversee energy projects such as the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, Fertilizer, and WAEP Upstream. She will also manage Corporate Communications, Administration & Facilities, and Group Procurement.

She also serves as the Group Executive Director at Dangote Industries Limited, where she handles commercial strategy across various units, along with branding and procurement. Her previous roles include Executive Director of Commercial at NASCON Allied Industries and strategic positions within the group. She has worked as an associate at Banwo & Ighodalo and is a member of the Nigerian Bar.

Fatima has pursued independent ventures in confectionery and real estate and actively participates in the Aliko Dangote Foundation. She holds a law degree from the University of Surrey and has completed executive leadership programs at Columbia University, the Wharton School, and Cambridge University.

Mariya Aliko Dangote has been appointed Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations for Cement and Foods, leading strategy and promoting integration, market growth, and operational excellence.

Since joining the Board of Dangote Cement Plc in 2005, she has served as Executive Director of Operations at Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc.

Her previous senior roles within Dangote Industries include Group Strategy Lead, with expertise in risk management and strategic planning. She holds a law degree from Bayero University in Kano and an MBA from Coventry University in the UK. Mariya also sits on the boards of Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited, Dangote Cement Limited, and Al-Ummah Development Foundation. She is a fellow of the National Institute of Credit Administration.

Aliko Dangote, valued at $31.9 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, has seen his wealth grow by $1.89 billion this year, including an approximate daily gain of $50.8 million. His fortune largely stems from long-term investments in cement, sugar, fertilizer, and oil refining.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery plans strategic expansion through a $400-million deal with XCMG Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese equipment manufacturer. This will increase its capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day, making it the largest globally.

The Dangote Group is also progressing with its Vision 2030 initiative to build a $100 billion enterprise within the next decade.
