Dangote Petroleum Refinery Announces Fuel Price Increase in Nigeria
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has declared a rise in petrol prices nationwide following the conclusion of the festive period.
On Monday evening, the company announced that the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has increased from ₦699 per litre to ₦799 per litre, resulting in an estimated pump price of approximately ₦839 per litre at MRS filling stations across Nigeria.
The refinery explained that this adjustment signifies a return to standard market conditions after temporary price-support measures implemented during the holiday season to alleviate consumers’ financial burdens.
“This earlier price reduction was temporary, intended to assist Nigerians with festive expenses,” the company stated.
Dangote Petroleum also noted that similar interventions have been undertaken in previous festive seasons, including covering logistics costs in 2024 and reducing petrol prices in 2025 to enhance affordability and market stability.
Additionally, the refinery expressed concern that some filling stations did not fully pass on the reduced prices to consumers during the intervention, thereby limiting the intended relief for motorists and households.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a steady fuel supply, ensuring price stability, and supporting energy security nationwide.
