Kano Community Mourns Tragic Loss of Woman and Six Children in Violent Attack

Kano State was plunged into mourning on Saturday following the brutal killing of a woman and her six children by suspected hoodlums in the Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of the state capital.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed that the victims — 35-year-old Fatima Abubakar and her children were attacked inside their home after individuals reportedly forced their way in and inflicted fatal injuries with dangerous weapons.
Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa stated that the command received a distress call around 12:10 p.m. on January 17, reporting the violent intrusion on the household of Haruna Bashir.
“The command responded swiftly, dispatching officers to the scene,” Kiyawa said.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, immediately mobilized a team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Lawal Mani to the location.
The victims were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where doctors confirmed them dead. “They were pronounced dead on arrival,” Kiyawa explained.
Furthermore, the police stated that ACP Wada Jarma, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, has been directed to lead the investigation with the goal of identifying and apprehending those responsible.
The police extended condolences to the family and community of Dorayi Chiranchi, as well as to the people of Kano State, assuring that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
This tragic event has elicited widespread grief and outrage, with residents demanding increased security and swift law enforcement action to prevent future incidents.
The killings highlight ongoing concerns over rising violent crimes in parts of Kano, amid recent reports of hoodlum-related attacks in the state.
