Commissioner of Information Obed Nana Nuhu Advocates for Enhanced Collaboration with NUJ in Niger State

The Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mr. Obed Nana Nuhu, emphasized the critical need for a more effective partnership between the Ministry of Information and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State chapter, in information dissemination.
This message was conveyed during a courtesy call to the NUJ Niger State Council at IBB PEN House in Minna, where he was accompanied by members of his management team.
Mr. Nana Nuhu remarked that his effectiveness as a commissioner relies heavily on the full cooperation of NUJ members. He urged journalists in the state to maintain objectivity in their reporting and to promote a positive image of the current administration under Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
Furthermore, he called on citizens to provide constructive feedback to support the state’s development goals, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to effective communication.
He announced plans to host a National Media Summit aimed at coordinating activities of information officers across the state.
The commissioner also encouraged State Area Information Officers from all twenty-five local government areas and MDAs to utilize the ministry’s platforms for efficient information sharing.
In response, NUJ Niger State Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu, expressed appreciation for the visit and urged the state government to prioritize state-owned media outlets to enhance their national profile.
Comrade Nmodu also pledged the council’s readiness to collaborate with the ministry on solution-oriented journalism.
He emphasized the need for stronger relationships with local journalists, as well as empowerment and training for information officers, and the establishment of an information management center to ensure consistent messaging across the state.
