Advancing the Niger State Development Agenda: SDGs Budget Defense and Stakeholder Engagement

The Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Abdulrazaq Mu’azu (Jakadan Borgu), led a delegation to the Niger State House of Assembly on Thursday to defend the budget of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agency, in accordance with statutory requirements for the 2025 fiscal year.
During the session, the Honourable Commissioner presented a comprehensive overview of the Agency’s proposed budget, emphasizing key programmes, ongoing initiatives, and strategic projects aimed at promoting sustainable development across Niger State.
He responded to inquiries from Honourable Members, clarifying expenditure forecasts, expected outcomes, and how the budget aligns with the New Niger Agenda of His Excellency, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
The Commissioner highlighted the SDGs Agency’s role as a vital platform for translating global development commitments into practical, community-based interventions, particularly in areas such as poverty reduction, healthcare, education, gender inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Following the budget defense, Hon. Jakadan Borgu conducted courtesy visits to the Niger State Printing Press and the Niger State Fire Service as part of a broader stakeholder engagement initiative aimed at fostering inter-agency collaboration.
At the Niger State Printing Press, the Commissioner reviewed the operational capacity and engaged with management and staff, urging them to uphold professionalism, efficiency, and integrity in service delivery.
He emphasized the importance of the Printing Press for effective government communication and documentation.
At the Niger State Fire Service, the Commissioner commended officers for their dedication to safeguarding lives and property.
He reaffirmed government support and called for improved coordination, discipline, and operational readiness to enhance public safety.
The Honourable Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to providing effective leadership, strengthening institutional performance, and repositioning agencies under the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs to deliver sustainable results for the people of Niger State.
