Prof. Nuhu Tachi, the Shettiman Minna, pays tribute to the late Amb. Haruna Manta.

By Our Correspondent.

Prof. Muhammad Bashar Nuhu, former Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Niger State and Executive Director of Finance at the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Ambassador Haruna Mohammed Manta.

In his tribute, Prof. Nuhu characterized the late diplomat as a distinguished patriot, a committed public servant, and an individual whose life exemplified selflessness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to societal advancement.

A native of Manta in Shiroro Local Government Area, Ambassador Manta demonstrated exemplary service to his community, state, and nation.

From an early age, he exhibited responsibility, discipline, and a passion for learning—qualities that defined both his professional and personal journey. Colleagues remember him as a dignified person of integrity, consistent principles, and deep empathy.

Ambassador Manta’s career in the Nigerian Foreign Service was notable. Over the years, he represented Nigeria with distinction in Accra, Jeddah, Dhaka, and Khartoum.

His diplomatic acumen, ability to forge lasting relationships, and dedication to Nigeria’s interests earned him respect both internationally and domestically.

In 2021, he reached the pinnacle of his diplomatic career as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Lesotho, and Eswatini, serving with professionalism and pride until 2023.

His influence extended beyond diplomacy into various leadership roles within Nigeria. He served as Assistant Director in the Office of the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Director and Head of the Ministry’s Liaison Office in Lagos; Secretary to the Amirul Hajj and Federal Government Delegation to Hajj; and Director in the Office of the Permanent Secretary.

In each capacity, he demonstrated meticulous attention to detail, integrity, and inspiring leadership. He was committed to mentoring young professionals and supporting their development.

Academically, Ambassador Manta’s achievements reflected his professional excellence. With academic backgrounds in Geography, International Relations, and Public and International Affairs, he was a dedicated lifelong learner who valued education’s transformative power. His intelligence, humility, and kindness earned him respect as both a scholar and a mentor.

Prof. Nuhu described the late diplomat as more than a brother figure and a statesman; he was an inspiration—an example of the positive impact an individual can have on society.

His service extended beyond official duties to community development, youth mentorship, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.

On behalf of his family, colleagues, and associates, Prof. Nuhu conveyed sincere condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Shiroro Local Government Area, and Niger State. He prayed for Allah’s guidance and strength for all affected and asked Allah to grant the late Ambassador Haruna Mohammed Manta eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

Though Ambassador Manta has passed on, his legacy endures. The lives he touched, the institutions he enhanced, and the example he set as a public servant, mentor, and patriot remain influential for future generations.

His life exemplifies that true greatness is found in service, integrity, and positive influence on others.

While Niger State and Nigeria mourn the loss of this distinguished son, the legacy of Ambassador Haruna Mohammed Manta will continue to inspire future generations.

His life stands as a testament to dedication, patriotism, and the enduring power of service. Although we have lost a remarkable leader, his legacy will never fade. After all, life is vanity upon vanity.
