PDP National Chairman Advocates Review of Nigeria’s Security System in Wake of Kidnapping Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki SAN, has called for a thorough reassessment of Nigeria’s current security framework.
He made this appeal during a sympathy visit led by the PDP’s National Working Committee to the Niger State government, following the recent abduction of students and staff from St. Mary School, Papiri, in the Agwara local government area.
Turaki stressed the importance of cooperative efforts in addressing critical security challenges, stating, “We understand your plight and stand with you during this difficult period. We are committed to supporting peace and progress in Niger State and across the nation.”
He emphasized the crucial role of a responsible opposition, urging leaders from diverse political backgrounds to unite beyond their differences to find sustainable solutions.
Turaki also praised the efforts of the state government and security agencies in their endeavors to recover the missing individuals.
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, expressed gratitude for the PDP’s visit, viewing it as a demonstration of humanity, solidarity, and dedication to democracy.
Governor Bago reiterated that terrorist activities threaten democratic stability and called on all citizens to contribute to safeguarding it.
He encouraged opposition parties to continue participating in nation-building, recognizing that such involvement strengthens democratic institutions and influences government policies.
While acknowledging support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the efforts to recover the abducted persons, the governor assured that all necessary measures are in place to ensure success.
