Etsu Nupe mourns Etsu Bassa Nge, describes his death as sad, very painful

Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Etsu Bassa Nge, Brigadier-General Abu Ali Mope III (Rtd.), describing the loss as painful and a great setback to the traditional institution.
Alhaji Abubakar said the passing of the Etsu Bassa Nge was “very sad and painful,” noting that although death is an act of God, his demise came at a time when his wisdom, experience and fatherly counsel were most needed.
The traditional ruler also described the late traditional ruler as a devoted community leader, a beacon of wisdom and a man of integrity whose life left an indelible mark on his family, society, the state and Nigeria as a whole.
According to the Etsu Nupe, “The demise of the Etsu Bassa Nge has left me with profound and deep personal sorrow. I, however, share in the grief of his family and community during this difficult moment.”
He added that the late monarch was a pillar of strength and guidance whose legacy of service and dedication would continue to inspire generations.
Alhaji Abubakar further described the deceased as a detribalised Nigerian who carried everyone along, promoted unity and peace, and served his people with dignity and humility.
According to him, the death of the late emir has created a wide vacuum that will be too difficult to fill.
He also urged the people of the emirate to sustain the legacies of peace, tolerance and communal harmony which the late emir promoted during his lifetime.
He said the late Etsu Bassa Nge contributed significantly to the growth and stability of his domain, adding that he would be remembered for his fairness, simplicity and commitment to the welfare of his subjects.
The Etsu Nupe prayed that the Almighty strengthen the family of the late traditional ruler to bear the irreplaceable loss and grant divine mercy to his departed soul.
“May the Almighty grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdausi, comfort the family he left behind and grant the people of the Bassa Nge Kingdom, as well as the government and people of Kogi State, the fortitude to bear this loss,” he added.
