PGF Delegation Pays Solidarity Visit to Niger Governor Bago Amid Recent Disasters.
In a show of solidarity, a delegation from the Nigerian Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) visited Niger State to express support for Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago following a series of recent disasters that resulted in loss of lives and property. The delegation was led by Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and PGF Chairman.
Governor Uzodimma emphasized that the purpose of the visit was to console and encourage Niger State’s leadership and residents, citing incidents including floods, tanker explosions, and boat mishaps. He highlighted the forum’s core principle of unity, stating, “An injury to one is an injury to all.”
He further called for collaborative efforts among government and stakeholders to implement preventive measures against future disasters. Governor Uzodimma praised Niger State’s leader, Governor Bago, describing him as energetic and capable.
The PGF Chairman also commended President Bola Tinubu for initiatives to strengthen security, infrastructure, and human capacity building, reaffirming the forum’s support for the administration’s vision.
In his response, Governor Bago expressed gratitude for the visit, noting the strong bond among leaders and the collective effort to support the state. He also thanked President Tinubu and various security, traditional, and religious leaders for their ongoing support.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, and the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, lauded the visit as a demonstration of brotherhood and unity, reaffirming their commitment to support the current administration.
Members of the PGF delegation included governors and deputy governors from Lagos, Ekiti, Delta, Ebonyi, Kogi, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Sokoto states, underscoring the wide-ranging solidarity from across Nigeria.
