Niger State Independent Electoral Commission Finalizes Preparations for Local Government Elections.

The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) has completed preparations for the forthcoming chairmanship and councilor elections, which are set to take place on November 1, 2025.
During a briefing with Security Operatives,stakeholders and members of the press at the NSIEC Secretariat in Minna, Engr. Jibrin Imam, the Chairman of the commission, outlined the steps taken to ensure a smooth electoral process.
He announced that the distribution of sensitive electoral materials to the twenty five local government areas particularly those far from the state capital has commenced ahead of schedule.
Traditionally, this distribution occurs one day prior to the elections; however, in an effort to preempt potential challenges, the NSIEC has decided to implement a two-day lead time for deployment.
“We have made this decision with the understanding that various issues may arise. This sensitive material will reach all polling units, totaling 4,950, across 274 wards in 25 local governments. It is indeed a significant undertaking, but I assure you of our commitment to maintaining a seamless voting process,” stated Engr. Imam.
He also extended his appreciation to security agencies for their support in ensuring the safe transportation of sensitive materials.
Additionally, the Chairman reported that non-sensitive materials have already been successfully distributed across the local government areas.
As the date of the local government elections approaches, the NSIEC remains dedicated to fostering a transparent and efficient electoral process.
