AEDC’s Negligence Sparks Outrage Among Tudun Fulani and Maikunkele Residents.

The critical stakeholders of the Tudun Fulani and Maikunkele AEDC feeder have expressed their profound dismay regarding the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and its inadequate service.

The ongoing neglect and disregard for the residents’ plight have created significant hardships for the communities in Tudun Fulani, Maikunkele, and surrounding areas.

This condemnation follows a joint meeting held by stakeholders after enduring a nine-day blackout caused by a malfunctioning relay at the Maikunkele substation. Despite prior warnings about the relay’s impending failure, AEDC has taken no action to address the issue.

Additionally, the prolonged merging of the two feeders onto a single transformer for over two years has contributed to the relay’s collapse.

The stakeholders highlighted that a new transformer, which has been available at the Shiroro Hotel substation, remains uninstalled due to the inaction of AEDC in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

In light of this situation, the stakeholders have resolved to take legal action against AEDC for the damages and inconveniences imposed on consumers.

Small and medium businesses are suffering stagnation, resulting in substantial financial losses, while essential items stored in refrigerators have been damaged. Furthermore, the lack of power has led to an increase in criminal activities under the cover of darkness.

The stakeholders caution that AEDC is inciting public frustration against the state government, as residents mistakenly attribute the power supply issues to government failure.

The company is also expecting consumers to pay their full bills despite the nine days of service interruption, which could be perceived as an exploitation of the situation.

The affected areas served by the Maikunkele and Tudun Fulani feeder include Hajj Camp, Bosso Low Cost, Okada Road, Tudun Fulani, Maikunkele, Airforce Base, Airport, Beji, Kodo, and neighboring villages.
