Dr Mustapha Jibrin hail peaceful poll, promises God-fearing leadership
Dr Mustapha Jibrin, the All Progressive Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate in Chanchaga local government area, has commended the peaceful conduct of local government election, describing the process as smooth and orderly.
Jibrin said this in an interview with newsmen after casting his vote at the Tilapia polling units under Tundu-Wada South in Minna on Saturday.
He said the exercise hadu been largely free of violence, though voter turnout was lower than anticipated.
“So far, so good, the election process is going on well. There has not been any issue of violence, and people are coming out to cast their votes.
“The INSIEC officials and security personnel are fully on ground,” he said.
He pledged to govern with the fear of God if elected, adding that he views leadership as a divine call to serve the people.
“I see myself as a servant leader and a messenger of the people, selected by God to serve. I will be just, generous and a blessing to the people,” he added.
He noted that Minna, being the capital of Chanchaga Local Government faces pockets of insecurity linked to youth restiveness and thuggery, which he promised to address decisively.
According to him, “I will be calm and friendly to those who are ready to drop their weapons and embrace peace, but I will also be firm against anyone attempting to disrupt law and order in the capital.
Jibrin said his administration would prioritise health, education, market reforms and youth and women empowerment.
He disclosed plans to complete the establishment of a local health insurance scheme to provide free healthcare for residents, while also promising closer engagement with traders to restore orderliness in markets.
The chairmanship hopeful reiterated his support for Governor Umar Bago’s vision to achieve 35 per cent affirmative action for women in government.
