NYCN Niger Urges Transparency in NDE Empowerment Program Amid Reports of Irregularities
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Niger State Chapter, is expressing serious concerns regarding reported irregularities in the distribution of empowerment packages under the Renewed Hope Empowerment Program (Phase 1), managed by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Niger State.
In a press statement released by Comr. Hamza Mohammed Tatiko, Public Relations Officer for NYCN Niger State, the council highlighted that numerous verified beneficiaries who completed their training in areas such as Fish Production reported receiving only a minimal ₦10,000 allowance.
These beneficiaries noted that the promised capital and starter packs are yet to be delivered. Alarmingly, as the program transitions to Phase 2, unresolved issues from Phase 1 persist.
The NYCN has called upon the NDE in Niger State to provide immediate public clarification regarding the disbursement processes involved.
The council further urged key stakeholders—including traditional rulers, media representatives, and civil society organizations—to join their call for greater transparency in the program.
Additionally, the NYCN requests that the Federal Government consider the temporary suspension of Phase 2 in Niger State until the outstanding issues from Phase 1 have been adequately resolved.
“The NYCN is firmly committed to protecting the rights of youths and ensuring that all empowerment opportunities are accessible and equitable,” stated Comr. Tatiko.
This call for transparency underscores the NYCN’s commitment to accountability and the fair distribution of resources meant to uplift and empower the youth and women in Niger State.
