Marketers Lament Illegal Allocation of Trailer Park Space in Minna.

Concerned marketer in the Kure Ultra Modern Market Trailer Park, Alhaji Aliyu Adamu, has called on Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to urgently intervene in the ongoing indiscriminate sales of trailer park space within the market.
During an interview in Minna, he emphasized that the current chairman of Chanchaga Local Government, Aminu Ladan, should be held accountable for undermining the trailer park, which is vital for economic development.
Alhaji Adamu expressed his distress that the trailer park space in Kure market has been mismanaged to generate revenue for the council at the expense of the marketers, resulting in property damage and avoidable accidents.
He raised concerns about the ongoing construction of shops in the only designated trailer park space, which has made it increasingly difficult to load goods. He urged for an immediate halt to these constructions to restore order in the market.
Furthermore, he questioned the roles of the Niger State Urban Development Board and the Ministry of Land and Environment in maintaining standards for parks and markets, accusing them of remaining silent about the illegal constructions.
Alhaji Aliyu Adamu also urged the state government under Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to establish an independent investigative panel to examine the processes involved in the sale of trailer park spaces and their consequences on the Kure market.
He noted that the situation is deteriorating and requires urgent attention to prevent potential dangers. He appealed to the governor to conduct an unscheduled inspection visit to the market to gain firsthand knowledge of the various ongoing construction projects.
When contacted, council chairman Alhaji Aminu Ladan denied the allegations regarding the sale of space. He stated that there has been a bylaw prohibiting trailers from entering the market since 2016, asserting that there was no trailer park in the market prior to his tenure, and that the council merely allocates space and business premises to those who seek them.
