Mokwa Village Head Urges Immediate Fumigation to Avert Health Crisis Following Devastating Floods.

From Our Reporter.

In a plea for urgent action, Alhaji Muhammed Aliyu, the Ndalile of Mokwa, has called for immediate fumigation of the community to prevent potential disease outbreaks in the aftermath of a catastrophic flood disaster that resulted in over 200 fatalities and left countless residents displaced.

This urgent request was made during a visit from the National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS), which offered condolences at his palace. Aliyu emphasized the necessity for fumigation following the disturbing discovery of decomposing bodies scattered across the area.

He warned that without prompt intervention, the situation could escalate into a major public health disaster. “If nothing urgent is done, it is capable of causing major health disaster,” he stated.

During the visit, Aliyu expressed his appreciation for the NCWS’s compassionate support provided to flood victims, particularly women and children, through generous donations.

He highlighted the pressing issue of the foul smell permeating the area, a clear indication of the decomposed bodies trapped under the debris of the flood’s destruction.

In addition to the palace visit, the NCWS delegation continued their support by visiting the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, where they distributed vital relief items such as clothing, food, and toiletries to the affected individuals.

Mrs. Justina Yakubu, the President of NCWS, extended her heartfelt sympathies to the families mourning their losses and the individuals impacted by the disaster. “We pray that God should take care of the orphans and the widows and give them open doors so that they will be able to rebuild their homes and settle down,” she conveyed.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the victims, Malam Abubakar Ibrahim acknowledged the council’s generosity. He conveyed that the support brought joy and relief to the victims, evident in the smiles on their faces.

Felicia Abba, one of the flood survivors, also expressed her heartfelt thanks to the NCWS for their visit and the essential support provided during this challenging time.
