Governor Bago Urges NYSC Members to Embrace Hard Work for a Successful Service Year.

By Our Correspondent

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has encouraged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to embrace hard work and determination during their service year.

He made this statement during the swearing-in ceremony for approximately 2,100 members of the 2025 Batch ‘A Stream Two corps at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko in Paikoro Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Bago, represented by Dr. Garba Nuhu Ngaski, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, emphasized that the state government is committed to providing an enabling environment for the NYSC to succeed.

He stated, “Embrace hard work, determination, and a willingness to succeed against all odds, as these are the cornerstones of any worthwhile endeavor in life.”

He highlighted that the Federal Government, in collaboration with the NYSC, recently launched the “Digital Literacy for All” campaign in Minna, encouraging corps members to take full advantage of this initiative.

Governor Bago noted that developed economies are driven by technology and urged corps members to seize opportunities in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

“Whatever you do, and however you do it, will shape your future,” he remarked, emphasizing that this experience is where corps members learn about leadership, timelines, discipline, and adherence to rules and regulations.

Earlier in her address, the Niger State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Martina Shuaibu-Ibrahim, stressed that the welfare, health, security, and well-being of corps members are paramount to the management of the scheme.

She encouraged corps members to enroll in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training program to foster their entrepreneurial mindset.

Mrs. Ibrahim also promised to continue the initiatives of her predecessor, adding that the NYSC programs are uniform nationwide.

Additionally, she expressed the sympathy of the NYSC Director-General and management to the victims and families affected by the recent flood disaster in the Mokwa Local Government Area.

The oath of allegiance was administered to the corps members by Halima Abdulmalik, Chief Judge of Niger, represented by Justice Mariya Ismail.
