Niger first lady pays sympathy visits to Mokwa flood victims, made personal donation of N50m

The wife of Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Bago, has visited victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area and announced a personal donation of N50 million on behalf of herself and her family.
The governor’s wife was accompanied by the Secretary to the Niger State Government Alhaji Abubakar Usman and some members of the state Executive Council on the condolences visit.
“We are here to condole victims of the flood disaster and to take assessments of the situation.
“The flooding happened, and from what we saw, it’s really not exciting to behold. We only advise them to be cautious henceforth and avoid building on waterways.
She appealed to the affected people to see the flood disaster as an of act and accept what has happened in good faith, adding that no support or intervention can replace the lives lost.
The first lady said the village head and the council chairman have acknowledged that help has been coming to them in various forms in and have commenced distribution.
She disclosed that search for the missing persons is still ongoing, saying that the state government is saddened over the unfortunate incident.
Officials, including the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the Deputy Speaker of the Niger House of Assembly, Mrs. Afiniki Dauda, and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Mairo Mann, extended their condolences to the victims.
The Village Head of Mokwa, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, called on the state government to compensate the affected community members.
