Police Operations Lead to Arrests of Suspects in possession of Counterfeit CFA Currency in Bosso Hajj Camp,locally fabricated Pistol.
The Niger state Police command, Operatives from the Bosso Division responded to credible intelligence regarding a syndicate engaged in selling counterfeit currency to unsuspecting Hajj pilgrims.
A Police bulletin signed by Police Public Relations officer SP Wasiu A Abiodun said the operation led to the arrest of Nda Baba Mohammed, a 27-year-old resident of Agaie Local Government Area, at the Hajj Camp Tudun-Fulani, Bosso Minna.
During the operation, he was found in possession of 40,000 Francs CFA, which are suspected to be counterfeit.
Upon interrogation, Mohammed confessed to stealing the counterfeit currency from the house of Mohammed from Kwara State while assisting with farm work.
He remains in custody as further investigations are conducted to determine the origin of the counterfeit money, after which appropriate charges will be brought against him.
In a related development, the Operation Flush patrol team intercepted a tricycle carrying three individuals at Imrat Junction, Bosso. During a routine stop and search, the officers discovered a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one round of 7.62mm ammunition, a charm jacket, various charms, a knife, and a cash sum of 141,000 Naira.
The suspect, Shehu Adamu from Gusasse village, Maikunkele, claimed the items were for personal protection and that the pistol was inherited from his late father for vigilante duties.He is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
Additionally, a distress call was received from the General Hospital area in Minna regarding a suspected motorcycle thief facing imminent mob violence.
A police patrol team from ‘A’ Division swiftly intervened, rescuing and apprehending Basiru Abubakar, a 35-year-old from Sokoto State.
Investigation revealed that he was involved in a motorcycle theft syndicate.
Abubakar and an accomplice, who managed to evade capture, targeted a motorcyclist under the pretense of needing assistance, causing the rider to become incapacitated after consuming a substance disguised as candy.
A vigilant witness raised the alarm, leading to his arrest.
According to the PPRO, SP Wasiu A Abiodun, investigations are ongoing, and charges will be filed against all suspects in accordance by the legal procedures.
