Niger State Government Disowns Viral List of Sponsored Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia
The Niger State Government has officially disassociated itself from a list circulating on social media that claims to represent its sponsored pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, clarified that the government did not produce or endorse such a list.
He emphasized that government policies and programs, including those concerning sponsored pilgrims, are formulated and implemented through formal, official channels.
Ibrahim criticized certain social media users for attempting to undermine government initiatives by disseminating false, misleading, and unverified information, despite the state’s ongoing efforts to promote a New Niger.
He underscored the importance of verifying information through credible sources before sharing or acting upon it.
The Chief Press Secretary further explained that the state government’s sponsorship of pilgrims primarily includes health workers, Pilgrims Board officials, and other critical stakeholders, aiming to provide assistance, medical services, and ensure a smooth Hajj operation.
Ibrahim urged the public and social media users to disregard the misleading list and to rely only on information from authorized government sources.
